Is a Wacom Tablet in my future?

I sure hope so!! I've been wanting one of these for a couple months now, thinking it would be great for scrapbooking, great for my blog, great for using photoshop, and just a cool thing to play with.  I could even doodle, on the computer!! I'm so tempted to just buy it! I have no real justification for buying it though, other than that I want it.  Is that justification enough? Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

Ooooo... Costco has it for $269!!

Flickr-ing non-stop...

I was all set to post an entry yesterday about the bird house in the back yard that has a little house wren that has set up her nest inside, with her "husband" and it seems that she's probably laid eggs in there.  She continues to go and sit in the house when it's been almost 100 degrees this weekend and today and she hangs her head out with her mouth open.  So she must have eggs, otherwise why wouldn't she go sit under a tree in the shade?

Anyway, I took pictures of the shade attempts that Ana and I tried to rig to shade the bird house, hoping to give this poor little bird a reprieve, after attempting some foam core contraptions we settled on a beach umbrella. So I took some pictures and wanted to post about it.  Well when I started to upload my photos I realized that I was out of memory!! I mean I have a 70GB hard drive, how is that possible??? But sure enough I had filled up my hard drive.  So I've been backing up and saving to disks and have started uploading the photos to flickr as a back up to my back up.  What a project this is! But I'm just completely terrified to delete photos.  This is a phobia that I REALLY need to get over!! I take hundreds of pictures a year, maybe thousands, and I really have to start to be more selective!

Anyway, maybe I'll be able to upload the beach bathing house wren tomorrow, in the meantime, I'll be flickr-ing...

Great Article...

I went on the Vanity Fair website the other day trying to find the controversial article about President Bill Clinton that has been a favorite topic of the news channels this week.  The writer basically interviewed friends and aides of the President and summarized the rumors that have been circulating amongst them about the company that Clinton has been keeping. 

Anyway, I wanted to read the article of the guy that the President referred to as a word that my mother would freak out over if I repeated it on my blog, so I went to their website and instead found another cool article about the History of the Internet!

What a great article! It really gives you a picture of the people, and the timeline of how the internet came to be.  These people had such an idealistic view of this new communication medium, they wanted everyone to be able to share in it.  They wanted to standardize the programming and equipment so that it could be used by everyone around the world. I have read a few books about the history of the internet before (yes, I am an engineering dork) but this article goes further back and also discussed the internet today. It's really a great condensed history.

I can still remember my first experience with networked computers, email, and then with the internet back in the early 90s, when I was in college.  We used a simple email software called Pine. I was in an engineering school so many of my classmates were computer science majors. And we were all just generally geeks.  We learned from each other in the computer labs on how to get into the internet by typing at the cursor. This was before Windows. I can remember several different guys that I went to school with, who were recruited right out of their freshman year to work on computers. It's insane to think of how far it has come since those blinking yellow cursors on an LCD screen!

Anyway, if you're a geek like me, check out the article about the Internet, it's really very cool! If you aren't, well then you can always read the gossip, in the other article, about our former President and some Hollywood Hotties! I actually haven't had a chance to read that one yet!
