Then last week, by some strange cosmic coincidence, Home Depot was having a sale on kitchen cabinets!! THEN, get this!, an additional 10% off coupon arrived in the mail on the last day of the sale!! Well, we could not deny the fact that the stars had aligned, and we drove over with coupon in hand. We somehow smooshed all the cabinets into Ana's Honda Pilot and thus began a new project! As Dona said, "that is how a project is born!"
The Project:
Saturday, while I was working on my Week in the Life Album in my craft room, Ana starting priming the walls and painting the ceiling. (Honestly I didn't even know that was happening, well at least the ceiling part, until she was done- typical of Ana really to just start painting a ceiling on any given random day) I was notified once she ran out of primer that we had to go to Lowe's. I knew the cabinets were going up this weekend, I just didn't realize we were truly redecorating with paint. So off we went to find the perfect shade of yellow to cover up the nasty mustard that's a relic of the past home dwellers here.
We settled on "Sunhat". What do you think?
Once the room was painted, the real work started. Hence, the real tools above. And by real tools I mean something beyond a trimmer and a Fiskar's threading water punch!
Here is Ana as we began to figure out where the cabinets would go and made a concerted effort to make them somewhat level. Or "close enough" as we said many times on Sunday.
Here are the cabinets once they were installed, without the doors. There was a lapse in photos while I was actually working. Bummer.
The Results:
And finally installed cabinets! Aren't they beautiful? I can't tell you how happy I am to have these cabinets. I was able to reduce the amount of stuff, squished into my kitchen cabinets and was able to clear off the top of the refrigerator. I think there has been something up there at all times during my tenure in this house. I said to Ana today that I feel like I am living in my Mom's house with that cleaned off refrigerator! (My mother is very tidy.)
So there you have it! Item No. 6 of my list is complete!
